Choosing a niche for your business is very misunderstood concept and one that I have A LOT of experience with. Today I am going to share my thoughts on why you need to niche.

In terms of marketing it is easy to see that when you niche you become a specialist. It becomes very easy for people to understand what it is you do, the problems you solve, the results you achieve and for whom you do it.

You are speaking to one person and you attract clients to you because they resonate with your message.

If you don’t have a niche for your business, then you are just a generalist. You don’t have a specific market that you are speaking to, you are just shouting loudly at everyone, throwing mud and hoping that some of it lands. But you are competing against everyone and it is very difficult for you to get any attention.

Without a niche you are going to struggle to make sales because you are selling your personality, not your process or results. You get stuck in the ‘time for money’ trap because you have no products or processes to sell, just your time.

When you are doing sales in a niche you are the expert. You are speaking directly to your ideal clients about their specific problems. It is easy to create marketing collateral like brochures because you have a process that you follow, and can guarantee results for the specific problems that you solve.

If you niche your business your marketing and sales become steamlined and easy compared to the generalist that is talking to everyone.
